Blog

Since October 9, 2021, Jennifer, Susan and Bill have written regular blog postings on the dallasgop.org website. Since all of their postings are no longer being published on that site by the new DCRP team, we are republishing those posts written by those three authors (all are now members of the DCR United team) to provide continuity. Going forward, new blog postings published after June 15, 2024, will be shown here.

E-Pollbook Problems

On the first day of early voting, Monday, October 21, there were widespread problems with the ES&S E-Pollbooks used in Dallas County to check in voters. The turnout on the first day of early voting was heavy (long lines) and the e-pollbook problems contributed to even longer lines.

The problems resulted in the election workers being kicked off the system frequently requiring new logins every time it happened. The problems occurred every 2 to 10 voters. Worse, as a direct artifact of the core problem, the incorrect ballot style (wrong precinct and/or sub-precinct) and its races being printed for some (but not all) voters. When noticed by election workers or voters, this required spoiling the incorrect ballot and generating new ones. In some cases, this required multiple cycles to generate a correct ballot which consumed more time. One Voting Center reported a total of over 200 spoiled ballots on Monday. For these voters, they ultimately cast corrected ballots but this error caused more time and resulted in even longer lines.

Fortunately, these problems were quickly noticed by our Election Workers (Election Judges and Election Clerks) and reported to DCED. The problem was diagnosed and its causes and effects were found an fixed. A more complete background of the problem and its fix are included in the Dallas County Elections Department press release.

Transcript of Donald J. Trumpʼs RNC Convention Speech

Together, we will launch a new era of safety, prosperity and freedom for citizens of every race, religion, color and creed. The discord and division in our society must be healed. We must heal it quickly. As Americans, we are bound together by a single fate and a shared destiny. We rise together. Or we fall apart.

I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.

The Frontline in the Fight for Honest Elections

It is that time, again. We are recruiting Election Judges for 2023.

Yes, for the upcoming May 6th Local Election but also to become “appointed judges” through Dallas County Commissioners Court later this summer; something we do every two years. This cycle is important because it set the roster of anointed judges that will be in place for the 2024 Primary and General Election.

Good, trained, and strong Election Judges, both Presiding Judges and Alternate Judges are the "first team" in holding fair and transparent elections in Dallas County. They are the bulwark against malfeasance in the way elections are conducted. They are our frontline and a critical part of the conduct of all elections.

The Great Biden Balloon Beclownment

Since the final long-delayed downing of the Chinese Spy Balloon on February 4th, the Biden Administration directed the United States Air Force to shoot down three other “unidentified flying objects” also found in North American airspace; two in the US and one in Canada.

In what appears to be a rush to deflect from the fiasco of the Chinese Spy Balloon affair, Biden tried to show that he could fling missiles around with the best of them.

Hilarity ensued.

Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment

On Monday, February 6th we celebrated the 112th birthday of Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. More than just a nostalgic look back to a dearly loved Republican and father of the modern conservative movement, now is a great time to reconsider one of his famous speeches.

Ronny was a famous Party builder. He had to be because the Republican Party was the minority at the time.

On April 1, 1967 then Governor Ronald Reagan of California delivered an address to the California Republican Assembly at the Lafayette Hotel, Long Beach, CA. He called the California Republican Assembly, “the Conscience of the Republican Party.” The CRA is a conservative California Republican activist group. It is the oldest and largest grassroots volunteer organization chartered by the California Republican Party.

In today’s blog, I want to replay the text of the last half of his address because it is so appropriate for today.

It is Time to Push the 88th Texas Legislative Session For Additional Election Integrity Support

We all have concerns about election integrity that are deeply rooted and long abiding. In Dallas County, after a year and a half of making election integrity one of the prime points of focus for the Dallas County Republican Party, we have made significant strides forward in Dallas County. No, we’re not yet fully where we need to be, so we should (and will) continue with our focus and intensity to restore trust in elections.

It is time, once again, to make our collective voices heard in the Texas Legislature in order to make further improvements in all election integrity matters in Texas. Many of the needed steps forward are going to require legislation.

The 88th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature Begins Tuesday

One of my favorite pieces of Texas slang such as the contraction of the past participle of the word “do.” “Doin’s” usually denotes important events and “big doin’s” means something important as “all git-out.” Our legislators meet for 140 days every two years and they are “fix’n” to start next Tuesday to “git’r done.”

There is a lot of important work to be done in the upcoming 88th Legislative Session. There will be many bills filed, debated, and voted. Some will be big legislation, some small. All will be important because it is the State’s business. To put the focus on our priorities, there are the eight legislative priorities of the Republican Party of Texas.

Okay, Texas Representatives and Senators, git’r done! “Texas are ready and rarin’ so go right quick

Happy New Year and a Resolution Suggestion for the New Year

Happy New Year! We hope you have a joyous and successful 2023.

We want to especially thank all the people who supported us and helped the Dallas County Republican Party in 2022 by volunteering. We made great strides in building the Party and are endeavoring to do even more in 2023 as we build on the foundational work from this year.

As a volunteer myself, I would like to ask all of the 2022 volunteers to join me in my New Year’s Resolution to redouble our volunteering efforts in 2023. Also, if you are a potentially new volunteer, resolve to join us in 2023 in any of the many positions we have available.
