Biography:
TAN PARKER is a Republican member of the Texas Senate, having previously served in the House of Representatives. Tan is committed to working for the people of Senate District 12, one of the fastest growing areas in the nation that includes parts of Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties as well as all of Wise County.

During his time in the Texas Legislature, Tan has been recognized as a proven champion for economic development, promoting fiscally responsible government spending, innovating medical freedoms, promoting a culture of life, and enacting greater public safety measures. He is also known for his advocacy for protecting children and vulnerable populations as well as being an early leader in the fight against human trafficking. Serving the people of Texas is considered the highest honor of his professional life, and throughout his time in public service, Tan has remained a champion for keeping government accessible, accountable, and grounded in service to others.

Tan?s legislative tenure has encompassed numerous leadership roles including two terms as the chairman of the Texas House Republican Caucus, in which he led the Republican majority. He currently is the vice chairman of the Texas Senate Republican Caucus. Tan also serves on various committees working to advance policies that strengthens Texas values. In the Senate, Tan serves as vice chairman of Veteran Affairs Committee and is a member of the Administration, Education, Local Government, State Affairs, and Transportation committees.

In addition to serving as a lawmaker, Tan is the editor for the newly released book, Making Government Work*, a compilation of public policy solutions from America?s most powerful voices including Nikki Haley, Chuck Norris, Rick Perry, Kathy Ireland, and many more. Tan is also a successful businessman who has, over the past two decades, worked in software, financial services, biotechnology and private equity. A passionate advocate for community, Tan serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Dallas and has had voluntary leadership roles for regional non-profits such as Communities in Schools of North Texas, the Children?s Advocacy Center for Denton County, Kyle?s Place a shelter for homeless teens, and Special Olympics Texas.

He is a graduate of the University of Dallas and the London School of Economics. He and his wife of nearly 30 years, Beth, reside in Flower Mound, Texas with their daughters, Lauren and Ashley.
